Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid year, winning just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the American major.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy following the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his last six title deciders, comprising in Halle previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was concluded.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the final five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour title, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early-game break points in a close final set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to control a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
